Dear Friends Thank you so much for your prayers—we truly felt them throughout this full year of travels. We know they were answered! Blessings Across Every Mile Our recent trip to Bolivia (July–October) was one of our most pleasant and purposeful. We traveled more than 2,400 miles within the country—plus many more in taxis and private vehicles. Every mile brought meaningful opportunities to teach, mentor, reconnect, and celebrate. This is what we do: visit, minister, make friends, encourage, celebrate, and build community—all for God’s glory. We’re also grateful for the many ministry opportunities across North America this year. The Lord kept us safe through thousands of miles—from Florida to the West Coast, across Northwest Mexico, and many stops in between—allowing us to share in conferences, local fellowships, and spend valuable time with family. Family, Fellowship & Ministry A highlight was visiting Linda’s family—her brother Arturo & Marizol, and her sister Ana & Carlo...

Ministry in Camiri

Image
Dear Praying Friends,  We are now in the middle of our second week here at the Facultad Bíblica in Camiri. I (Leon) have been teaching the students on the subject of Ministry for three hours each morning. The classes are going very well—I’m grateful for the students’ attentiveness, their thoughtful interaction during discussions, and the effort they’re putting into their assignments. It is encouraging to see them working hard and truly learning.  Some recurring themes in this course have been: 1 Discipleship (mentoring) relationships—believers walking and learning together. This dynamic is vital to a healthy ministry. 2 The life of ministry as a process—not an endless chain of victories, but a journey with ups and downs. 3 Humble and thoughtful service (diakonia)—when ministry is led by the Lord, it will be blessed. Since I am more accustomed to teaching or preaching in shorter sessions, these extended classes have been a learning experience for me as well—one for which ...

July-August 2025 News Update Ongoing Ministry News – A Journey Filled with Joy, Memories, and Ministry On Tuesday, August 1, our good friend Mark Mattix met us in Santa Cruz and drove us the five hours to Camiri. As we traveled, I couldn’t help but think back to my very first trip to Bolivia in June of 1983. It had been pouring rain, the road was nearly all dirt (MUD!), and what took us just hours this time took three days back then! Camiri holds a special place in our hearts—it’s where Linda and I were married 40 years ago. Many here still remember that day, and one by one, people came up to us with smiling faces, saying, “Do you remember me?” These sweet reunions have warmed our hearts more than words can express. From August 1–3, Linda had the joy of sharing God’s Word with the ladies of Camiri. The conferences were held at the Bible Camp across the river, with about 80 women gathering from all over the region. Their attentiveness, thoughtful questions, and long discussions aft...

Travels July 2025

Image
Dear Friends, July 27, 2025 We left Ellensburg on Tuesday, July 15, and spent a couple of wonderful days in Cannon Beach, OR, with Ben, Grace, and the boys. From there, we headed to Redding, CA, to visit the Moores. I first met Danny Moore in Bolivia during a short-term missions trip back in 1983, and their friendship has been a constant encouragement ever since! The next day, we enjoyed a sweet time of fellowship with Pedro and Lucy Dillon in Cupertino, CA. Afterward, we traveled to Bethel Chapel in Riverside, where I had the opportunity to share from 2 Corinthians 12 about Paul’s thorn in the flesh—and how our “weakness” can become a canvas for displaying God’s power and grace at work in and through us. While in Riverside, we were blessed to spend time with our kids—Omar, Ana—and our precious grandchildren, Eliza and Reuben, as we finalized preparations before our red-eye flight. On Friday evening, July 25, our dear friends John and Catherine Bourbonnais graciously drove u...

News & Prayer June-July 2025 Devotional at the end

Dear Praying Friends, Recently, while traveling, we had Spanish Christian worship music playing. It stirred up many memories and emotions from our years in Mexico. With tears, we recalled dearly loved friends and the many experiences we shared during that time. These reflections reminded us of a consistent theme in our journey— the Lord’s enduring faithfulness . Through every difficulty, we’ve seen His care and provision. Time and again, we've found ourselves in awe of how He has led us through trials. This beautiful theme continues in our ministry—first at camp, and now in this new season with  A Barnabas Project , a ministry focused on encouragement. We’ve been studying diligently and preparing for our upcoming ministry and family visits in  Bolivia, July 26 – October 9 . For three weeks in August, we’ll be in  Camiri , visiting dear friends. Linda will be speaking at  women’s conferences , and Leon will be teaching on  Christian Ministry  at Facul...

News May 2025

Dear Praying Friends,                                                                                               April 4, 2025 Over the past three weeks, we’ve had the privilege of visiting 7 different Assemblies—most of them multiple times—averaging nearly one visit every night! From men’s and women’s meetings to preaching and focused Bible studies, each gathering was prayerfully and purposefully designed to uplift and strengthen the saints. We’ve been deeply encouraged by what we've witnessed: a beautiful receptivity to the Holy Spirit and a joyful embrace of the Word of God. The Spirit of God is clearly moving, and we can confidently say—we’ve met our ministry goals for this trip! Every visit was fo...
